MISS SIMPSON

The Mrs. Simpson is a classic, heavily feathered streamer and "killer" pattern in fly fishing. Originating in New Zealand in the 1930s, it famously imitates small baitfish (like cockabullies), dragonflies, or shrimp. It is highly forgiving to fish and extremely effective for trout and panfish.
How to Fish It
  • Stillwater (Lakes & Ponds): Use a fast-sink line and retrieve with a slow strip or figure-of-eight, mixed with occasional fast, short jerks.
  • Running Water (Rivers & Streams): Cast across and down the current on a fast-sink line, or strip it like a small swimming minnow with pauses
