• The Design: It features a striking silver tinsel body, a black or red hackle, and a wing made of iridescent green peacock sword herl mixed with slips of bright red feathers. 
• The Controversy: The fly mimics small baitfish or fry so perfectly that it was an incredibly deadly lure for trout. It proved so effective that many fly-fishing purists deemed it unfair, and its use was actually banned on many English lakes and streams during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. 
• Modern Use: Anglers still use the pattern on platforms like Fish4Flies, primarily retrieving it in sharp, irregular jerks to trigger trout strikes.
