POND LINER 0.50MM X SQM
A pond liner is an impermeable membrane used to line the base and sides of a pond or water reservoir. It prevents water from seeping into the ground and keeps out soil contaminants. Proper liners make it possible to maintain stable water levels for fish farming, landscaping, and agricultural irrigation.
Common Liner Materials
- EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer): A synthetic rubber highly favored for small decorative backyard ponds because it is extremely flexible, easy to mold around curves, and highly puncture-resistant.
- HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene): A sturdy, rigid plastic commonly used for large agricultural ponds, dams, and aquaculture because of its strength, longevity, and resistance to UV degradation.
- RPE (Reinforced Polyethylene): Lightweight yet incredibly strong; RPE offers superior puncture resistance and is often used in large-scale commercial projects.
Thickness Guide (Gauge)
- 0.3 mm (300 microns): Used for light domestic water containment or small smooth surfaces up to 200m² without rocks.
- 0.5 mm (500 microns): Ideal for medium-sized garden and fish ponds on lightly rough ground.
- 0.75 mm (750 microns): Built for rocky or stone-heavy soil surfaces and large reservoirs.
- 1.0 mm (1000 microns): Heavy-duty grade for massive commercial dams or high-stress containment environments.
Best Sourcing Practices
- For Agricultural & Commercial Projects: Source high-UV treated virgin HDPE sheets from specialist agricultural vendors like Maimun Fishing and Tackles
- For Small Backyard & Ornamental Ponds: Pick up lightweight pre-cut PVC or flexible EPDM sheets directly from retail platforms like: shop.mft.co.ke
- Protection Trick: Always install a geotextile underlayment below your flexible liner to act as a barrier against sharp stones and root punctures.
