DO METER

A DO (Dissolved Oxygen) meter is a scientific device used to measure the amount of gaseous oxygen dissolved in a liquid, typically water. These devices are essential for assessing water quality and supporting aquatic life. 
Common Uses & Applications
  • Aquaculture: Monitoring fish tanks and shrimp ponds to ensure oxygen levels remain within the 5  to 12 mg/L sweet spot needed to prevent fish stress.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Checking the health of lakes, rivers, and streams to detect pollution sources and prevent hypoxia.
  • Wastewater Treatment: Managing aeration tanks and bioreactors.
How They Work

DO meters use a specialized probe to measure oxygen either electrochemically (using a Clark electrode) or optically. They generally display results in milligrams per liter (mg/L), parts per million (ppm), or percentage of saturation. Many models also automatically adjust for temperature and salinity.
