TROLLING LURES

Trolling lures are specialized baits designed to be pulled behind a moving boat to mimic the swimming action of prey. Their design varies significantly depending on whether you are targeting saltwater game fish like Marlin or freshwater species.

Common Types of Trolling Lures

·         Skirted Lures: These are the primary choice for offshore saltwater fishing. They feature a heavy head (often resin or metal) and a trailing vinyl or silicone skirt that creates a "smoke trail" of bubbles.

·         Crankbaits & Plugs: Hard-bodied lures with a "lip" that makes them dive and wiggle. Popular for freshwater species like Walleye and Pike, as well as saltwater species like Kingfish.

·         Spoons: Metal lures that wobble and flash, mimicking a wounded baitfish. These are highly effective for Salmon and Trout.

·         Soft Plastics: Often used with a weighted head, these provide a realistic texture and movement for species like Striped Bass.
